Where to visit

Frigiliana

A regular winner of the 'prettiest village in Andalucía', Frigiliana is just north of nearby town Nerja and is the typical pueblo blanco which sits high on a mountain ridge overlooking the sea with spectacular panoramic views.

Nerja

Situated at the eastern tip of the Costa del Sol, 50 kilometres from the city of Malaga and within an hour and a half’s drive from Granada and the ski resort of the Sierra Nevada.

Sheltered by the impressive Sierra Almijara mountain range, this once sleepy fishing village is now one of the most popular tourist resorts along the coast, and worth a visit to this charming seaside town, that is often referred to as the ‘’Jewel of the Costa del Sol’. Whether you want to explore the caves or to visit the Balcón de Europa (the Balcony of Europe), Nerja has a wonderful promenade, stretching along the edge of a soaring cliff top.

The old towns of both Malaga and Granada are just 70 and 90 minutes away respectively.

Malaga

revamped and revitalised, the city now boasts a sleek port, an exciting culinary scene and a rapidly growing clutch of artistic attractions. But it’s not all new. This is one of the oldest cities in Spain, the cobbled streets of the old quarter, its mountainside Roman Amphitheatre, the Moorish citadels of the Alcazaba and Gilfarbaro. And even once the sight-seeing is done, there’s still a city full of rooftop bars, gleaming boutique stores and nearby beaches to explore.

Granada

The city at the foot of the ski resorts of the Sierra Nevada, Granada was the last stronghold of the Spanish Moors, this legacy can be seen in the horseshoe arches, the spicy aromas emanating from street stalls, the teterías (teahouses) of the Albayzín in the historic Arab quarter. Most spectacularly, of course, it’s in the Alhambra, an astonishing palace complex whose Islamic decor and landscaped gardens are without peer in Europe.

There’s also an energy to Granada’s streets, packed as they are with bars, bohemian cafes and intimate flamenco clubs,

Both cities are well worth a visit for either the more traditional sights or the tapas, street cafes and night life that leaves a lasting impression.
